ATHLETE TRAINING
At TEAM EDGE our
main focus with our athletes is to have them to reach their full
potential and also to realize whatever goal they may have. The
beginning of each program starts with the development of the
athlete’s core strength including abdominals, balance and overall
muscular strength.
Sport
Breakdown:
Football – A
mixture of explosive movements involving the entire body. Our main
focus with our football athletes involve moving a moderate to heavy
weight as quickly as possible to simulate the on field movements as
much as possible. We do this using resistance band training, Olympic
movements (hang cleans, snatches) and plyometric fast feet drills.
Basketball – A
sport that involves explosive quick bursts and also involves a lot
endurance. After working on the overall core strength we work in a
lot plyometric and vertical leap training with our athletes
including box jumps, resistance band training and a focus on squats.
Baseball -
Another sport that requires a lot of explosive power. With baseball
we will tailor or workout more to the position meaning a pitcher and
catcher isn’t going to do the same workout. Our focus with our
pitchers will be on the legs to develop the power from the mound and
also a lot of abdominal strength. Our field position players are
going to focus mainly on overall power and reaction speed.
Wrestling/MMA –
Is a high explosive sport that also a sport depending on having a
lot of overall stamina. This is a sport that requires a lot of
functional strength so we use more full body movements including
Olympic lifts that will also assist in reaction time training.
Volleyball –
Similar to basketball training these athletes need explosive power
but also endurance to maintain their strength through out a game.
Our focus with these athletes are still going to be overall core
strength and vertical leap training including plyometrics and box
jumps.
Track and Field –
This is more of an event driving program design due to the
differences in the athletes. Our sprinters need more explosive
movements to develop fast twitch muscle fibers and our distance
runners will focus more on full body movements that require more
endurance. |
